Peppermint Candy - Madrid/Tentative EP

imageEP Review -

It's been a while since the last slamming release on Project Recordings by DJ Yellow & Astrid Suryanto. Luckily though they have announced a new series of releases. First up is a release by label founder; Peppermint Candy, with a two track EP entitled Madrid/Tentative.

The French DJ producers delivers a proper techno-ish EP. First up is Madrid, a track with an incredible drive and a very cool melody. Although the track propels forward, somewhere around three quarters down things get a bit lame. The repetitive synth theme forms the base for the track yet it lacks variation, but the powerful stabs interwoven do give the track that spicy ingredient.

Tentative offers a more moody start with a beat-less over one minute long intro. The dreamy start is then topped off with a sort of drum 'n bass flavour. The track keeps it dreamy atmosphere for the full 5 minutes and is definitely my favourite of the two. It may not be as propelling as the first one but it shows the diversity of Peppermint Candy as a producer. Definitely a kick start for the new upcoming series on Project Recordings!
