Pacou - Sense (Tresor)

On the brink of its 20th anniversary the Tresor family are proud to announce a new effort from one of its long time residents, Pacou, marking an exciting new chapter for both the club and label.

Pacou's been producing since 1996 and it shows. His Sense EP is the kind of well strcutured techno Tresor is founded on: raw, beefy, bold techno driven by bomb kicks, rattling percussion and ongoing bass loops and synth arps. Opening track Connection is a heavy hitting piece of blazing techno with a short but very powerful climax during which the merit of this track becomes noticeable. Transmitter draws on a more dubby flow of layered sounds that could form a great DJ tool in the hands of the skilled. Up next is Response, a stripped track that bears similarities to oldschool Jeff Mills/Robert Hood techno: stripped, static, a bit chaotic here and there, and powerful to the last second. Closing the EP is the off-beat Default, a soaring piece of floor rock techno with great kick drum programming and warm, analog sounding synths in the background.

Our verdict:
Tresor strikes again. Pacou delivers a piece of pure Tresor-ish techno that will definitely do the business in any techno set.
