Oliver Deutschmann - Waterfalls

Berlin based JackOff Records delivers its third release in the form of the Waterfalls EP by Panorama Bar resident and Vidab/Falkplatz owner Oliver Deutschmann, plus a remix by Detroit’s Patrice Scott..
Up first is Waterfalss Are Good, a warm piece of house music with an oldschool sounding array of synth stabs and vocal snippets. The track as a whole is very repetitive but not in a disturbing way. Okay, it could have used a bit more bite here and there, but we’re not complaining. Patrice Scott’s Sistrum remix is a more obscure Detroit-flavored version with oldschool analog kicks, and a variety of synth waves. Things get very deep in the middle part, making this tune a subtle play for after hours. Closing the EP is Do It The Classic Way Baby, an uptempo house with roaring electro bass and druggy melodies that I’m sure will do great in steamy Berlin basement venues.
Our verdict:
Three rather basic but very warm slabs of house music is what this EP offers. Not too much originality, but the fact that the strength of each track lies in its repetitive nature should be enough reason for house jocks to check it out.
