Techno - Celebrating 20 Years of 430 West, techno icons Octave One drop the third instalment in their Revisited Series with remixes from Cari Lekebusch and Alexander Kowalski…
First up is Cari Lekebusch who reshapes Love And Hate into a typical Drumcode-styled techno dtomper with fat kicks, loads of sweeping fx and reverb noise. The middle part with its melodics is quite catchy, but the climax and overall appeal let a bit down, we’re sorry to say. Up next is Alexander Kowalski’s restyle of I Need Release, a track that bears Kowalski’s typical melodic approach. With the otiginal vocals from Ann Saunderson well preserved, the tune eventually turns into a warm, soulful but also slightly druggy thumper with a great vibe.
Verdict:
We’re not too sure of Cari’s remix, but Alexander’s rework is definitely worth raiding Beatport for. Overall speaking a decent EP, no more, no less.
