Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat imprint welcomes progressive house boss Nick Warren, who delivers his debut EP for the label.
We believe we don't have to explain Nick Warren's tremendous influence on electronic music, so let's get down to brass tacks right away. The EP includes the original mix of Rumbletump plus thwo remixes. The title track is a wobbly midtempo prog rocker chug full of lush strings and synths drenched in reverb, which makes it a very warm and mesmerizing composition. The Microtrauma adds more bounce to the ounce, with heavier kicks fueling the darkened synths from the original. The Monaque remix falls in between with a sequence consisting of both the warm sounds from the original and a nice variety of spacey arps.
Our verdict:
Nick's debut on Sudbeat has become a very enjoyable piece of progressive warmth. The original is a monster, but our pick would be the Microtrauma remix.
