Crossover - Deep house heavyweight, and 2020Soundsystem member Moodymanc (Tsuba / 20:20Vision) teams up with ultra talented vocalist and musician Jamie Finlay (Wah Wah 45s) to deliver a seriously catchy underground anthem, which comes with a remix from highly respected DJ/producer Mr Scruff.
There's a total of four tracks on this one: the original mix, a Club dub and Vocal mix, plus a remix by Mr. Scruff. The original is an oddball but very well constructed piece of slo-mo, broken beat futuristic underground er... jazz? Well, we don't know what to call it, but trust us when we say it's pretty damn good. The Club Dub adds a bit of Balearic house flavor to the original elements, while the Vocal mix replaces the broken beats from the original with a midtempo house groove. Mr. Scruff's remix turns the original mix into a wobbly affair full of growling bass lines and lasers.
Our verdict:
Moodymanc and Jamie Finlay's collaboration has resulted in a very original EP that may be a bit out of your comfort zone, but that shouldn't be a reason to skip it. Check it out and we bet you'll be amazed.
