Mauro Picotto - Monogram

imageTechno -
After last year's trailblazing 2010 LP, Italian techno mastermind Mauro Picotto recently announced the upcoming release of his new LP Twenty Eleven. Monogram will be the first single...

Monogram is another fine example of Picotto's well known rumbling techno sound. The man may turn to the more minimal side of things every now and then, but he never fails to add a punchy dance floor twist to the mix. The original mix is a mid-tempo tech-house rocker with strong kicks, several layers of heavy drums and a deep synth wave in the middle that adds a catchy twist to the overall. The Picotto Dub is an even drummier affair with staccato snares and a vivid woodblock-ish sound creating a powerful groove. Sasha Carassi turns the original into a huge bass-driven techno tune of Beyer-ish proportions, while Yousef's 'Circus' Rework coats the tune into a very dynamic piece of tech-funk with a dubby touch here and there.

Our verdict:
An all-rounder for tech heads, this one. Whether you're into heavy big room techno or fancy the subtler stuff, this EP has it all.
