Mathew Jonson is set to release the Dayz EP on Crosstown Rebel, which comes with an additional remix by DBridge.
Dayz, the first on Mathew's first release for Damian Lazarus' label, has become a very melodic house-meets-techno affair. Driven by punchy kicks, the track fuses silky synthesizers to vivid keys, with the overall result being a strong Detroit-ish track. Cold Blooded is a more static, electro-based house track with twisted melodies, nasty bass stabs and super heavy vintage synth waves in the middle part. DBridge's No Love Mix of Cold Blooded is a downtempo piece of lush electronica that sadly lacks the magic moments of other DBridge tracks.
Our verdict: Mathew Jonson's latest piece of work has become a diverse collection of tracks, with sounds shifting from house to techno to downbeat. Our pick? The original mix of Cold Blooded, anytime.
