Maya Jane’s music is best defined as punchy house with hints of deep house, of which this EP is another example. Opening track Focus Now is a dynamic and rumbling house track decorated with tone pulses and vocal snippets, an original and deliciously odd track. Little One is a more uptempo affair with typical deep house chords and making up a hypnotizing groove. Up next is Senseless, which is a slow-moving semi-club track with vocals by MJ herself, after which the EP closes with the Chateau Flight-esque The High Life, the best track on this release.
Our verdict:
Maya Jane’s latest outing has become a very atmospheric package with slightly leftfield sounding house sounds. Well worth checking out.
