Joseph Capriati - Gashouder EPWritten by Youri Jozee EP Review - Napolitan techno DJ/producer Joseph Capriati delivers his second ever Drumcode release, ‘Gashouder EP’, in September 2010. Joseph's second release on Adam Beyer's Drumcode will be made available in a two-track vinyl version and a digital bundle with five (!) additional digi-only tracks. The title track Gashouder (named after the infamous techno venue in Amsterdam) is a very deep techno banger that is somewhat out of sync when compared to Joseph's trademarked tech house tunes. Not that we mind though, as this one's a very well crafted killer packing a massive dark groove and riddled with insane rhythm patterns. Breaks come and go and although climaxes are kept to a minimum, their effect is nothing short from devastating. Menuda leans towards the minimal side of techno, yet its menacing groove, growling bass sounds and nervous hi-hatting make this another devilish techno stomper. The two tracks are worth the purchase of the vinyl alone, but the digital only tunes in the download bundle are definitely worth your dought too. Galaxy Express and Locomoted are exactly the type of tune you would expect from tracks with such a title. The deep bass -drenched in reverb- does have that techno-train kinda vibe, while the ongoing beats and breaks guarantee maximum floor destruction. Very well done. Old River is a well balanced mix of techno and tech-house, while the massively pumping Break The Line (cymbal mania on this one!) and the industrial sounding, motor-driven and slightly distored Thinking About Mars add a serious dose of hard rocking basement techno to the package. Capriati's Gashouder EP has become an impressive release with nothing but awesome techno cuts you'll be sure to hear a lot these coming months. As said before, the vinyl's worth your green alone, but the digital package offers even more value for money. Get is as soon as it hits shops. Rating: 8.2/10 Tracklist:
