Joel Mull - Holographic EP (Truesoul)Written by Youri Jozee EP Review - This three-track EP on Adam Beyer's Truesoul label kicks off with Danny Boy, an uptempo tech-house tune with a playful bassline as its biggest strength. Along the way the tune gets techier due to the typical 'sweeping cymbal' techno-twist, while the tune as a whole slowly turns into a real deep heavy hitter full of sudden turns and twist. Very well done. Up next is Holographic, a more drum-driven, heavier techno tune based on a mid-tempo groove. Riddled with dubby fx and supported by a menacing rhythm, this tune leaves no room for shenanigans. Thumbs up for this one too. Final track Duh Dub is one of those tracks in which the subtle re-arranging and addition of drums is what it's all about. It's dubby, it's deep, and it kicks like a Mull. Would make a great DJ tool too. This EP definitely makes us look forward to Joel Mull's forthcoming album. Judging by this EP, it's gonna be huge. Rating: 7.6/10 Label: Truesoul Release date: January 2011 Tracklist: 1. Danny Boy 2. Holographic 3. Duh Dub
