Guy J - Heliscope EP (Bedrock)

Israeli producer Guy J returns on the mighty Bedrock label with the Heliscope EP... here's our judgment.

Guy J has become a respected member of the Bedrock family after the release of hugely succesful tunes such as Esperanza (of which the Sistema remix was included on John Digweed's recently released Structures compilation), and of course 2009's Lemur single. The heliscope EP follows up on his trademarked progressive house sound in the form of two tracks: Heliscope and Easy As Can Be.

The title track is a warm, luscious piece of progressive house music at its finest. As always on Guy J tracks, this one features a very well constructed build up with hypnotizing keys, waves and twitchy percussion paving the way for the tune's breakdown. After a deep, minimal bridge, the tune turns into an intense stunner fueled by several layers of pulsating melodies. Pure quality.

On the flipside we find Easy As Can Be which is a much more dubby and er... easy-going tune. Supported by laid-back beats, the tune's dreamy synthesizers give it a very enjoyable vibe all the way through. Note the oustanding synth work on this one.

Guy J's latest release has become another must-have for both Bedrock fanatics as prog heads in general, simple as that. Both tunes ooze with craftmanship and, most importantly, are very effective tunes for the big rooms.
