Although we never really understood the fuss around Paul Kalkbrenner's Sky & Sand (which featured vox by his sibling), we do have to admit that Fritz has a perfect voice to decorate electronic grooves with. The EP opens with the original version of Right In The Dark, a heavy, dubby piece of Berliner house music tailored for outdoor festivals or lazy Sunday's. We assume you're familair with it, so let's skip to the first remix, which comes from Robag Wruhme. As always, Robag's mix is a strange mix of twitchy drums, solid beats and several melodic layers, with the result being a very deep hypnotizer. But the biggest track on this release is Henrik Schwarz's rework, which is a stunning, typical Schwarz-styled deep house cut with soaring bass and sparkling keys as its biggest attractions.
Our verdict:
Quite a biggie, this one. the oriignal still sounds pretty sweet, but the remixes are the real winners here.
