Eskimo Twins - Judas/Droid EP

imageEP review -

The next addition to the Wax:On catalogue comes from the acidy Eskimo Twins. Judas/Droid is what their latest work is titled and it comes with no less than 5 remixes. Check out our thoughts below.

If you’re familiar with the duo, you know that the Eskimo Twins are big fans of acid, electro and pop and that’s exactly what this release is all about. The EP includes two original cuts; Judas and Droid which both get solid remixes y Deadstock 33s, Ado, Matt Walsh, RipTidE and The Sonic Emporium.

But let's start with the originals. First up is Droid, which is a nice synth layered piece of electronic madness. The track starts off relatively easy but in the breakdown the synths are being pushed way into the red and the drive really kicks in. The wobbly bassline gets merged with some acid sounds, making it a cut that probably causes a lot of havoc during any rave.

The other original is entitled Judas and is the more sophisticated variant of the Eskimo Twins. This one comes with deep basslines and has a proper techno groove with nu-wave electro sprinkled on top. About three quarters down the track some proper electro sounds set in and you suddenly find yourself listening to a disco like groovy monster.

As said before this EP comes with an impressive amount of remixes. Droid is remixed by Ado who transforms it in to a electro-house banger of which especially the breakdown is simply massive. The second remix by RipTidE is a bit less impressive if you ask me but still makes a entertaining electro mix of Droid.

Judas undergoes the remix treatment of Justin Robertson under his Deadstock 33s moniker, but the true masterpiece comes from Matt Welsh, who transforms the already deep track to a proper deep and dark techno version. After you have lost sense of all directions with Matt Welsh's remix you are probably hoping to be saved by The Sonic Emporium. He succeeds in creating a very gentle version with some cool spaced out pads and warm synth sounds leaving you swim for another 7 minutes.

Overall this package is as complete as you can get. Whether you like banging electro house or some deep dark techno, this one has it all. For me personally the Matt Welsh remix of Judas is fantastic, but both the originals are very cool as well. Definetely worth your coins!
