‘Electric Fling Volume 3’ features a new artist on Codek Records, Brioski with Svperfine from Milan, Italy who have a passion for all things Italo Disco.






Ever since its demise in the late 80s, Italo disco has always been lurking in the underground, with an occasional resurfacing through obscure labels and radio stations. The Show Biz features four vivid and clubby takes on the genre. The original mix opens the EP with a cut starring the typical Italo synth-bass sting and playful conga elements. The thick nu-disco synths in the middle part add a bit more melody although on the overall things tend to stay quite static.

In Flagranti's remix is a darker version of the tune, with nervous bass merged in, after which Rio Lobotomy's Abducted Version returns to the more melodic sides of the genre with an excellent future disco cut. Last up is the Son Of Sound remix which carries along a false main melody and repetitive sequencing.

Our verdict:
Meh. the original makes a cool record but the remixes let down. A bit more spice and a handful of twists would have made it a much more exciting package.
