Dana Ruh - Crocosmia X

imageEP Review -

German born and raised Dana Ruh bought her first set of turntables back in 1994 but it was not until her move to Berlin though that she really started making waves in the scene. After releases on Barraca music and Ostgut Ton she now returns with an EP on her own label Brouqade.

The EP consists out of three tracks of which the first is entitled Ramaria Flava. This one has a nice groove going and includes some mysterious cut up vocals. The tracks has this chunky house feel to it and builds towards a killer peak aimed at maximum floor mania.

Opuntia, the second track on the A-side, sees singer Yorby delivering some dreamy vocals. Her calm voice lull you in to a hypnotized state in which you are fully open for the rhytm and sounds Dana is firing upon you. The track has a dark vibe going for it and gives you an true afterhours feeling.

The B side features a track called Del Sur. A dubby track with some twisted vocals and a nice organ leading the way. The catchy hook keeps on going in this 9.45 minutes long tune which quite frankly is a bit too much of the good stuff if you ask me...

Dana Ruth delivers a cool tech-house orientated EP with Crocosmia X. Nothing outstanding or innovative, but tasty nonetheless.
