Alexander Kowalski & Jake The Rapper - What's The Point?

Alexander Kowalski drops a brand new three-tracker on his own recently established Damage Music label...





First up is What's The Point, a clubby techno track with vocals by Jake The Rapper. The tune spawns Kowalski's love for subtle melodics, although we've heard better from him. Friendly Fire is a much darker and sinister techno tune with an Anthony Rother-esque bassline as its main attraction. The breakdown is lengthy but very well programmed and results in an epic climax packed with sweeping synths and dark bass stabs. Great tune. Closing the EP is a remix of Friendly Fires by Spanish live act Dosem, which is a very chunky rework with powerful kicks and another lovely breakdown.

Our verdict:
We'd prefer the Friendly Fire track and the closing remix any time over the title track. All in all a decent package for the techny minded.
