Alan Fitzpatrick - Shadows In The Dark (Remixes)Written by Youri Jozee Techno - Alan Fitzpatrick is without any doubt one of the upcoming tastemakers in the global techno scene. So far he has released a string of tunes on Len Faki's Fihure label as well as Bedrock, his own 8-Sided Dice label, and his long-lasting relationship with Adam Beyer's Drumcode. Up first is Mark Broom's remix of A Small Decline, a vicious, pumping tech-house that starts off very basic but slowly tranforms into a solid and dark throbber. Mean kicks on this one. Following up are Adam Beyer & Jasper Dahlback who turn Paranoize into a roaring techno tune in which especially the percussive elemnts stand out. Another very dark cut with a couple of great breaks and fx woven in. Closing the EP is the much loved Gary Beck whose remix of Gridlock is a deep and rumbling affair that has that 'train-structure' going. The track includes a variety of volume shifts which makes the overall tune a very dynamic one. Cool stuff. Our verdict: There isn't much that can go wrong if you're having your tunes remixed by some of the most notable names in the league. All three remixes are well worth your time, but the Adam Beyer & Jesper Dahlback remix is king. Rating: 7.5/10 Label: Drumcode Release date: February 2011
