EP Review

French purveyor of all things techno and glitchy, Agoria, returns with two brand new tracks on the InFiné label as a taster for his upcoming LP that will be released this Fall. Worth checking out?

Why yes. Agoria is famed for his organic, playful, sometimes feather-light techno that always seem to ooze with new life. The first track, Grande Torino, is a 12:30+ minute-tune merging warm Detroit techno, minimal and house using several layers of soothing synthesizers, a thumping kick decorated with various drum sounds and a very mellow vibe as the most impressive factor. The tune features a very, very slow build-up, which strongly ephasizes the warm vibe and lets the listener dive deep into Agoria's utopian world. The main melody is as simple as it is effective, while the second break adds an even bigger deal of emotion to the overall. An intriguing cut, to say the least.

Next up is For One Hour, a tune featuring vocalist Scalde. Again we get to hear a virtuos, slowly building collage with beautiful melodies and a fantastic overall vibe that are completed with great vocal contributions. Very easy-going with a sudden twists here and there, and yet again another highly impressive composition.

Agoria's new EP is a majestic delivery by one of the most skilled producers in the field of emotive techno and a great preview of the man's upcoming album. Both tunes are incredibly well produced, featuring an almost cinematic, story-telling theme. You can't afford to miss this one.
