Mat Zo

imageBiography -
London based producer and DJ Matan Zohar, or Mat Zo as he is known to his fans, was immersed in a world of music from a young age, from classical and folk, to opera and modern synth music. Mat taught himself to play the guitar at the age of 8, and became a rock drummer and a jazz bassist aged 11. Hoever, after listening to dance artists such as Daft Punk and the Chemical Brothers, their primal rhythms combined with cutting edge melodies, instrumentation, and progression moved him to a turning point in his career: electronic dance music production and DJing.

He taught himself to produce dance music at 13 years old, and by 16 had taught himself to DJ.

By 2006, when he was only 16 years old, Matan had his first signing of a track, but is was after he won the Baroque Remix Competition with Lustral’s “In My Life” that many world-class DJs and producers began to notice this young producer’s great talents.

By mid-2007, Mat Zo had remixed for Andy Moor and Markus Schulz, and he became a DJ household name after remixing “Driving To Heaven”, which appeared on Tiesto’s internationally recognized “In Search Of Sunrise 7” compilation.

Mat Zo has gained tremendous support from the world’s top DJs, including Armin Van Buuren, Tiesto, Above and Beyond, Markus Schulz, Ferry Corsten, Andy Moor and Airwave. He has numerous releases out on such labels as Intuition, Armada and Anjunabeats, and continues to produce music ranging from drum and bass to trance and progressive house. His monthly Zoned radio program can be heard on afterhours.fm, and his guest mixes can be heard on numerous highly rated radio stations. The future looks very bright for this young producer/DJ’s career. We have only seen the beginning.
