BnB Presents We Are E | Unders Podcast

imagePodcast -

The BnB Presents We Are E podcast series is drawing to a close, but not before we served you the last two podcasts. After last week’ session by Joey Daniel, this week you can enjoy an slamming set recorded by We Are E’s Unders.

Unders, or Duncan Meulema to friends and relatives has been involved with the Dutch music scene for many years.

10 Years of promoting and booking events led to a portfolio of bringing artists like Booka Shade, Minilogue, Steve Bug, Trentemoller and many more to Holland. Resulting in a vast network of artists and promoters and a taste for music he now days shares with us as Unders. Together with 2 friends he founded his own productions company to host more parties in Amsterdam under the name Made in Brain. Bringing the infamous Circoloco Parties  to Amsterdam, hosting label nights for Supplement Facts, Dirtybird, Cadenza and Connaisseur, all of which gave Unders a platform to play and experiment.

In his sets he always follows his own path and translates mood, energy or feelings through the warm, deep house and techno music he shares with the crowd. Performing all across the country and abroad when the opportunity arises, his career is picking up and developing as we speak.

His productions reflect the same vision and his very first EP 3 Days In Kazachstan together with Drrie was an instant success. The track got the Stimming remix treatment and made it on Karotte’s compilation. Releases on 90 Watts and Sound Architecture quickly followed, as did many 24/7 studio sessions and partnerships with other producers to come up with new unique dance floor material.

Before diving into Unders’ podcast make sure to read the short interview we did right below.

Hey Duncan, how are you? Anything you would like to tell us about your podcast before people hit play?
Ola ola….   I’m doing really well.

The mix has turned into a compilation of some of the deeper more underground tracks I admire in the studio and in the club. Sounds that move me every time I press play and hopefully you enjoy them just as much as me while listening to this mix at home, on the road or via your local iPod dock. I used quite some unique material by the likes of Trentemoller, Supermayer, Damian Lazarus and some brilliant new comers like Culoe De Song and Maya Jane Coles.  Enjoy J

You are DJ-ing, producing and organizing events. If you had to choose, with which would you continue?
I have recently made the decision to take some distance from organizing events and focus more on the music with the exception of 24 hour party people @ Studio 80. Learning entirely to gain new knowledge in the studio and getting much more grip on organizing my DJ collection which has piled up over the last 10 years. If I would have to choose, I would go for producing which would without a doubt lead into DJ-ing anyway.

Your very first EP got featured on Karotte’s compilation Karotte’s Kitchen. How did this come together and how did it feel?
It came as quite a surprise to be honest. Stimming has been on my top producer list for a while and Karotte rocks clubs like no other, so the combination on my first release was amazing. Have been receiving immense support from Karotte ever since with other tracks and a residency at his Karotte’s Kitchen parties in Holland. To top it all off Karotte invited me and We Are E buddy Johanna Mercker to play at his Chromogamia night @ the Cocoon Club in Frankfurt in April.

Any cool news or sneak previews we have not covered yet?
I have a release coming out in January on a label called Rislabs from New York together with Loops. I have been spending a lot of time on new material with these two gentleman after they did a remix for the Spiderpig EP which hopefully will be out soon.  I have a few cool productions on the shelf together with Wouter De Moor, Sander Baan, Sven Prinsen and off course some new tunes by myself.

DJ wise I’m playing at the Time Warp warm-up & one of the after parties together with Joey Daniel in December. I have been invited to play at two clubs in San Francisco during Christmas and looking forward to playing with dOP, Luna City Express and Jimpster on January 1 at our 7th edition of 24 HOUR PARTY PEOPLE at Studio 80.
