imagePodcast -

After our BnB Spotlight - We Are E of last week we will serving you with a fresh new podcast every week by one of the We Are E artists. To kick things off, Arjuna Schiks compiled and mixed a fresh housy set for ya'll. Check it after the break!

Before diving in to his podcast we would like to introduce Arjuna a bit. Arjuna was born and raised in Amsterdam where his parents owned a New Age shop. At the age of 8 he heard the ambient record Sounds of Heart, it proved to be a start in an already successful career in the music industry. After he saw Anthony Rother, Orbital and Richie Hawtin play at the age of 15 it was all clear to Arjuna, he was going to produce his own music.

Over the years Arjuna produced 100's of tracks, varying between ambient, tech-house, electro and electronically produced classical music. His sound is characterized by warm and melodic sounds which he also incorporates in his dreamy but energetic sets. Arjuna won the prestigious award "Grote Prijs Van Nederland" back in 2007, and continued in 2008 by winning the Vinylized-most talented producer of the year award. This award got him his first EP release on All is One Records...The critically acclaimed After-Belle kick started his career.

Arjuna has performed at some of Holland's biggest events including Mysteryland, Dance Valley and the ADE. He furthermore produced music for a TV-commercial of Diesel and has been working with Isis aka 100% Isis and scored a Top 5 hit together with Dutch artist Willie Wartaal with the ridiculous but fun track Konijntje which translates as Bunny. Last year Arjuna released a record on the German Trapez imprint and did a remix for worldwide phenomenon Deadmau5. Quiet impressive huh?

Hello Arjuna, how are you? Anything you would like to say about his podcast before our readers dive in to it?
I recorded this podcast especially for the Amsterdam Dance Event 2010. It starts of with some accoustic stuff followed up by a more housy sound than most people would expect from me. I used some old classic motown voices by Diana Ross, Jackson 5 and i've used the vocals of Blondie in there somewhere. I leave it up to you to guess where :)

Also featured: My new release for The Gem Records ADE Sampler: Gamelonia. Supprted by Gregor Thresher, Dubfire, Sebastiaan Leger and more..

Where do you get your inspiration for your tracks?
Lately i've been really inspired by the sounds of Kollektive Turmstrasse and their label Muzik gewinnt Freunde. Its truely amazng. I love the deep melodies combined with some funked beats!

Any cool news or future projects you would like to share?
My release at Einmusika recordings is one of the most awesome projects at the moment. Besides I'm doing ar emix for my friends Rauwkorst which will be released on their own Rauwkorst Records. Lot more going on but I can't tell you yet...

That wraps it up! Check out the podcast below and for our Dutch readers, watch the We Are E Spotlight Artist video!
