Let's not go over Sven's history,we take it you heard of our favorite German if you now you're electronic music, so let's skip the bla bla and get down to business. Here's our review of the latest in the Cocoon mix series.

The Sound Of The Eleventh Season is an overview of the sound that has been remarking Cocoon's 11th year on Ibiza and we can't help but to feel it has been a very tech-housy summer for the platform. Sure, we do find a couple of heavier tracks here and there (such as the stomping Edit Select remix of Speedy J's Trails), but on the overall it's kind of what we expected it to be: subtle tech-house, some minimal, and a few more unusual tunes here and there by both established acts as newcomers. We've heard that from the label many times before, but despite it predictability, there's no way this album should be skipped. We weren't exactly stunned by the label's most recent output and in that sense this compilation is a step back into the right direction.

The flow's flawless but that's what you get when you mix it digitally (most compilations are these days), and all tracks are esthetically right up Sven and co.s' alley. Heavy hitting tunes such as DJ Koze's Sbooty, the aforementioned Trails by Speedy J and Soul Center's Der Bul Scyl decorate the first CD with sheer quality, whilst the second CD more or less continues this sound with stand out tracks by Tom Trago (Lost In The Streets Of NY, in the Boris Werner remix), Plaid's lovely Dett and the very cool Since You Looked Into My Eyes by Kabale Und Liebe. There's a few weak spots in both mixes too, sure, but nothing too serious.

As said before, The Sound Of The 11th Season is nothing too original or inventive but just a proper continuation of a series that of which the past few editions were a bit dull. This one takes things right back in the saddle with two CDs of energetic house and techno grooves.
