Markus Schulz – Las Vegas 2010Written by the B&B Crew Album reviewMarkus Schulz is without doubt one of trance music's biggest and hardest working artists. The output of the man has been steady ever since the early days of his career, especially the amount of mix compilations he delivers is respectable. After nine editions each covering a different city, Markus now tries to capture the spirit of Las Vegas on a 2 disc release. As always, Markus' mix compilations are a quality mix of warm, elements mixed with hard rocking beats delivered by some of the biggest stars of today's trance and progressive scene. The first disc opens with the easy going Rain by Clinch but soon enough sets sail towards more uptempo cuts such as the powerful Style Fusion (Jessus Progressive mix) by Elsandro, an a-typical trance tune with a few very nifty twists. Other biggies in the mix include the playful Simplicity by Mr. Pit, the soaring synths of Arnej's Ping Pong, and the superstomping Daimiyo by Thomas Crescine. All in all, Markus delivers a solid mix without too many surprises, but definitely with a great vibe. The second disc doesn't differ that much in sound from the first, although we get to hear darker tunes that would do well in big room venues and events likewise. The techy Comet by Skytech provides a solid kickstart for slamming tunes such as Katsu by David Forbes and the epicness of Robert Burian ft. Zdenka Predna's You (club mix). One of the biggest tunes on this disc is Ummet's Ozcan's Next Phase (Phase 1 mix), a tune remarked by cool effects and a series of well produced breaks and climaxes. Las Vegas is exactly what we thought it would be: quality trance and progressive carefully selected and mixed by a man who knows what his audience wants. Although it lacks the element of surprise, we're pretty sure that this one will find its way to trance heads the world over. Buy because: you're looking for two discs with the latest in trance and progressive. Tracklist: 1. Dakota - Sin City (Intro Mix) 2. Skytech - Comet 3.
