Lucien's Heroes of House MusicWritten by the B&B Crew Album ReviewHeroes Of House music is a pretty nasty 2xCD compilation that bears his signature sound all over. 'It's a reflection of where I'm at musically which I would describe of a hodge podge of a variety of styles and is purely mixed with a live DJ set in mind. In my mind, the tracks that have made it on to this double CD are truly heroic in nature and have (and continue to) give me inspiration to do what I do best. Namely: put a smile on my dance floor!' thus Mr. Foort himself. The first disc starts with a vocal intro, introducing the general idea in terms of sound of the CD. A little over the top if you ask me since it sounds like a hollywood movie trailer for some C-class action movie. "Rated R, for real". Well it did made me smile, that's for sure. Following up the intro is Whole Life by Oxia, immediately setting the mood for the rest of the disc: feel good house vibes. It's poolside action vibes throughout the entire release, hands down. The first disc is titled Heroes at Dusk, and that's exactly what it sounds like. It's the perfect sound track for a late BBQ or dining session, or a good glass of wine on the beach. Lucien Foort mixes the tracks together in an absolutely flawless matter, resulting in a highly enjoyable listening experience. Highlights of CD 1 are Gregor Salto feat. Chappell's Your Friend, the hilarious 10 Things Not To Say To A DJ by Andre Harris and Lucien Foort ft. I-Fan - Stand Up 4 Love. We like! CD 2 revolves around the Heroes of Dawn, and sees funky tracks by M.A.N.D.Y alongside the likes of Deadmau5 and John Dahlback amongst others. The CD has a bit more body to it than the tracks on the first CD. As a matter of fact, the second disc kind of picks up where the first one finished, with much housier tracks and a proper "feet in the sand" feeling. After the opening, the CD gets it on with Love Inside by John Dahlback, Good Times with Seamus Hall, the ever-impressive Mark Knight & Funkagenda and other delightful inclusions by Joan Reyes, the aforementioned mau5 and M.A.N.D.Y vs. Booka Shade (misspelled on the CD cover by the way... ouch!). Quiet a varying roster, but all is mixed together in gentle way. Overall, Lucien Foort delivers a proper compilation mixed together like a DJ set. Nice, but not really surprising or refreshing. The difference in sound of the two disc's are not too big, but still allows you to choose depending on your mood and time of day. For me personally, the second disc is better than the first one as it offers slightly more variation in sounds. The two CD's both have a distinctive vibe applicable to a variety of summertime moments. Aching for some sunny house vibes? Disc one's your thing Are you into more uptempo, techy tunes simply, then shove disc 2 in your CD player and go ape. However, this CD is nothing more than a compilation, and don't offers you any new unique material or well crafted remixes. Nice... but not surprising or refreshing. Tracklist:Disk 1 1.
