Let's just make this quick and painless... This two-disc release from
Dash Berlin is awesome. If you like progressive trance, or are looking for a new compilation of the latest and greatest, you need to check this album out.
Dash Berlin really throws it down for this album, compiling a nearly two-hour mix that takes the listener on an expansive journey through the sounds of modern trance and progressive, leading to the "United Destination".
A few of the higlights include the first track "Marcus Schössow & Andy Duguid feat. Emma Hewitt – Light", a spacy tune that properly sets the mood for the rest of the disc. Emma Hewitt's sultry voice calms the nerves and let's you explore the intricacies of the music. Add to the mix track number six, "Shogun feat. Hannah Ray – Nadia", another vocal spectacle that drips sonic ecstasy.
At times, Berlin's transition to the next song seems a bit rushed, albeit choppy or a bit harsh, but what Berlin lacks in perfect transitions, he makes up for in song selection. Finding and blending songs that utilize effective bass with soaring vocals and spectacular synth, Berlin strikes the perfect balance.
We don't hear too many female vocals, which many DJ's have been relying upong heavily recently. What we do get is a nearly perfect mix, rounded out by Dash Berlin with Cerf, Mitiska & Jaren – "Man On The Run". It's not just another trance mix that should be easily discarded and forgotten. This is on par with Armin Van Buuren's "State of Trance" epics or Markus Schulz's symphonic mixes, such as "Las Vegas 2010". Dash Berlin is here to stay, and he proves himself with this epic release on Armada Records.
