Dan le Sac vs. Scroobius Pip - The Logic Of Chance

imageAlbum Review
The Beatles, just a band! Wise words from Dan le Sac and Scroobius Pip, the best thing to hit alternative electronic hip-pop dance since spoken word was invented. The crafty beatsmith and rapper/poet now return with the follow-up of their lauded debut album Angles.

Dan Le Sac and Scroobius Pip form an exceptional duo to say the least. With a sound that heavily leans on a mix between Italo, hiphop, and pop, the duo does not fail to deliver a social-critic message in the process. This makes the outfit one of the most 'essential' bands of their generation, providing their fanbase with carefully crafter gems from the underground. The Logic Of Chance sees the duo continuing what they do best. Does this makes the album a mere repetition of their debut? Most definitely not. It's even better, even more varied, and even more balanced. It's no surprise the album is already widely credited as one of 2010's best.

The album opens with pure gold: Sick Tonight merges drum 'n bass with raw electro bassline while Scroobius manically raps over the uptempo beats. It is on this very track that we immediately recognise the duo's ultimate synergy once more. Cauliflower's dubstep translates the sound of London's streets to a fantastic blend of poppy vocals (check out the first break!) and punky effects. Great stuff, very well produced and incredibly catchy. The album as a whole is well balanced, features a crisp yet gritty production, and above all, is highly original. Its tracks stand out due to their unique combinations of (vintage) synths, dreamy melodies, stomping beats in a variety of tempos, overall theme and rhyme schematics. Just listen to the insane, bass-driven The Beat and get blown away. Check out Snob and go ape. Get this album and you'll know what the sound of now sounds like.

Not only is The Logic Of Chance a more than genius approach on music or an amazing second album from to extremely talented musicians, it's above all a release that points out the multicultural diversity of todays electronic scene across 11 highly impressive tracks. And therefore, it's not to be missed.
