BnB Review: Various - Great Carnival Stuff Vol. 2Written by Youri Jozee House/Techno - The Great Stuff label has been sailing steadily over the past few years with numerous chart topping cuts from artists such as Jean Claude Ades (aka JCA), Namito, and Oliver Koletzki amongst many others in its extensive catalog. Just like its predecessor, all tunes have been produced exclusively and especially for this compilation, with each artist reflecting his own vision on the Dutch, German, and Brazilian carnival celebrations (more or less comparable to Mardi Gras if your American). Now you may wonder how on earth does one turn the clown-esque carnival vibe into electronic bangers? Allow the Great Stuff artists to explain... Great Carnival Stuff Vol.2 is a hyper-energetic trip through beats and drums-infested house and techno cuts carrying that typical Great Stuff trademark. Some tunes reflect the warm, exotic and sexy vibe of Brazilian carnival (such as Jay Lumen's techy floorfiller Non Verbal Lesson and Jean Claude Ades' Latin Fever), while others tend to turn to the generally more chilly (and obviously less sexy...) Dutch and German territories (as on the electro-fueled Spec Ops Two by Luetzenkirchen and Neuroxyde Meets Aki Bergen awesome Araruama). Whatever takes your fancy, it's all high quality and it's all designed to rock the dance floor. Our verdict: The party definitely gets started when you put on this smashing release! Great Carnival Stuff 2 is a great pick if you like your house and techno rich, layered, shuffling, quality-bursting and German. And it's infinitely better than the semi-Schlager music that's dominating the Dutch and German clubs this week...
