BnB Review: The Sound Of The Twelfth Season - Mixed By Sven VäthWritten by Youri Jozee House/Techno - After a string of good and not-so-good compilations, Sven Väth now presents the twelfth edition of the Cocoon The Sound Of… series. Click below to find out if it’s worth the purchase.
The first disc is titled Nigth, and so we get to hear a bunch of house and techno tracks that have been on heavy rotation over the past few months, and not just at the Cocoon bashes. The mix opens with a few rather heavy but minimal-tinged house tracks such as the moody Vomee by Dense & Pika, Levon Vincent’s odd but intriguing house track Man Or Mistress and Todd Terje’s space disco funker Ragysh. Mark E’s moving techno stomper Belvide Beat is one of the heaviest tracks represented here, while tunes such as Aufgang’s mental Dulceria (Clark Remix) and the brilliant Let Me Count The Ways by Benoit & Sergio adding a nice bit of variety too. The second disc may be titled Day, but that doesn’t mean it’s limited to poolside grooves only. Sven serves up a load of tunes with a more lighthearted approach as compared to the first disc, starting off with the dreamy Workshop 13 A1 by Move D and Omar S’ vivid Detroit techno track Here’s Your Trance Now Dance. Inclusions such as Gerd’s massive house jacker Time & Space (2011 Rub), Maceo Plex’ Falling (probably the biggest track on this compilation as a whole) and the extremely awesome Don’t Look Down Now (Roman Flügel Remix) by Anthony Collins also carry that lovely authentic Cocoon vibe. Our verdict: Rating: 8.0/10 Tracklist CD2: Day
