BnB Review: Joachim Spieth pres. Selected 7Written by Youri Jozee House - Affin label head Joachim Spieth returns with the 7th instalment in the Selected series, presenting the hottest cuts from the imprint’s most recent output. Full analysis below…
On the first disc, we get to hear a selection of 7 tracks from Dirty Culture, Deepchild, Reggy van Oers and Little Fritter amongst many others. While just 7 cuts may not sound like an overload of music, all that’s presented is of top notch quality. Opening track It’s A Freak In Me (Someone Elese Remix) by Dirty Culture is a stripped piece of basement groove with a hot bassline mixed it, after which we come across more full-on house mentalism such as the drum-fueled Truth Told by Little Fritter, and Deepchild’s genius synth-riddled Skunk Disco, the hottest track on this side of the compilation. The second disc is a deeper affair, with each track being a mix of house and smooth progressive elements. And again, we like what we hear. James Hunter’s Heybo opens things with a very warm piece of playful house, while Roberto’s Epithemiou adds a punchier flavor in the form of a fast-paced slab of pure house filth. The hottest track on this disc? YokoO’s No Recollection. Stunning.
