BnB Review: Dosem - ParallelWritten by Youri Jozee Techno - Spanish musician Dosem turns to Technasia’s Sino label for the release of his new album Parallel, a highly intriguing piece of techno and electronica…
CD 1 serves up no less than 22 tracks, many of which are downright floorfillers despite their sometimes extremely melancholic vibe. Take Silent Drop for instance. Despite being fueled by a heavy techno beat, the melodramatic piano melody gives the track a somewhat desolate and ‘cold’ feel. Luckily, we do get to hear a batch of warmer cuts too, such as Esnite, lovely and very melodic Tannhauser Gate and of course Dosem’s biggest hit till date: Beach Kisses. At some points, Dosem tends to dwells a bit too long in interlude realms, but there’s always another great, well thought-out techno beat to wake us up. Parallel CD1 : Dosem by DosemSo far so good, now on the second disc. 146 kicks things off with a very impressive piece of subaquatic electronica, after which we encounter true walls of sound in the form of both spacey waves as experimental, semi-broken beat tracks. Again, we find ourselves listening to as series of stunning cuts, in which especially the more ‘orchestral’ cuts are a great listen. Distant Playground, Your Skin, and the nervous Vertex are just some of the best tracks on this disc, on which Dosem proves to know his way around chilled, pulsating electronica too. Parallel CD2 : Sendo by DosemOur verdict: Parallel is a rare case of an album on which quantity is equal to quality. The first disc is for the techno fanatic who likes his techno organic and thematic, while the second disc has become a very adventurous trip through utterly deep soundscapes and mysteriously rattling compositions with a cinematic approach. An unpolished gem, this album.
