BnB Review: Audiofly - Follow My Liebe (Get Physical)

After a myriad of EPs and remixes, Audiofly are about to release their debut album Follow My Liebe on Get Physical. Here’s the full rundown…






Luca Saporito and Anthony Middleton have carved a niche for themselves in the grey area between deep house, jacking grooves and ambient-inspired compositions, which has made them familiar faces in clubs and festivals the world over. Follow My Liebe has been composed as a continuous mix, which further emphasizes the warmth and sexiness of the Audiofly sound.  Basically, it spans the full Audiofly spectrum, gently moving from stripped down slo-mo funk to full frontal house beats drenched in emotion and elegance.

The album opens with a couple of warm and jazzy mid-tempo grooves such as the disco-tinged opening track Follow My Liebe and the enchanting album highlight 6 Degrees, a track featuring lovely vocals by Fiora Cutler and topped with druggy melodics. After the soulful afro-ish Fela, the album moves to housier cuts such as the fierce bass ‘n synth-fueled Black Cat, the minimal jack-track Myhappyplace and the dubby deep housian Talk To Me, the latter being a great track to set any floor ablaze. By the time the mix ends, it has become clear that Audiofly has managed to develop themselves into versatile musicians with a talent to create an album that not only caters to the clubs, but also manages to withstand the ‘sofa test’, so to say.

Our verdict:
Audiofly’s debut album has been worth the long wait. Follow My Liebe has become a convincing showcase of the boys skills, but first and foremost an album that draws on the entire house spectrum. Whereas we didn’t really feel their first productions, FML has become a high quality, gold-plated LP. Thumbs up.
