BnB Review: Alessio Mereu - Tripolarity

imageHouse/Techno -

23-year old Alessio Mereu recently dropped his debut album Tripolarity, a multi-facted album showcasing the producer’s diverse taste in music. But is it worth your dough too?

Ever since his first record came out in 2007, Alessio has slowly carved his own niche on the canvas of electronic music with a steady number of releases and his own label AMAM, on which he now releases his first album. On Tripolarity, Alessio experiments with a wide range of genres, of which warm techno, ambient electronica, and house are the main ingredients.

Opening track First Pole, which revolves around a broken beat and dreamy, repetitive melodies marks an excellent start, after which tracks such as the funky house-meets-disco crossover tune Only You Know Who I Really Am and the playful techno track Purity pave the way for more musical delight. Alessio continues to switch from more downbeat, ambient-esque tunes to pure dancefloor material, creating a seamless flow of sounds. Near the end, we come across a couple more experimental tunes such as the hypnotizing Ok, Now Stop And Restart (a title that perfectly matches the track itself as it’s a bit on the short side), and closing track Third Pole, a haunting piece of dubby electronica.

Our verdict:
Tripolarity has become a very nifty piece of work, marked by an outstanding production, a lot of diversity, and most important, consistent quality. Well worth checking out if you’re looking for more alternative house and techno.
