Ali Wilson - Phenomenon

imageAlbum Review -

After a handful of pretty impressive EPs, trance hotshot Ali Wilson releases his debut LP Phenomenon on Marco V's In Charge label.

Ali Wilson
has established himself as a favorite amongst DJs such as Judge Jules, Armin van Buuren and Ferry Corsten, which most likely is due to his broad vision on the trance music spectrum. Whereas gazillions of his colleagues tend to stick with either progressive delight or big room bangers, Ali Wilson incorporates elements from many genres into his studio output. In that sense, it is hardly surprising that the 16-track Phenomenon  LP has become a very diverse affair.

The album is unmistakably ‘trance’ (including the euphoric breakdowns and powerful climaxes), but more than once Ali chooses to fuel his tunes with menacing techno grooves (such as Kaos Theory with Marco V, and Shakedown), bits of progressive and a touch of tech-trance on the side too. The result is an adventurous album with plenty of hot tunes that are best enjoyed at high volume. Some may say the trance genre isn’t the most suitable to experiment with but on this album, Ali shows otherwise.
