Chris Liebing's CLR label celebrates its 10th birthday, and what better way to do this then to issue a compilation with label highlights? There's an easy answer to that, there isn't. Not if we're dealing with a label that has so convincingly managed to put its stamp on contemporary techno...

Chris Liebing himself has selected up 12 of the label's hottest releases and although all tracks are mixed, they each get their time to shine. The tracklist itself fully revolves around slow to mid-tempo techno fueled by deep kicks, industrial hi-hats and loads of effecting, much like the stuff Chris made with Speedy J over the past few years. The opening track, Kind A High - Auf Und Ab (Dustin Zahn mix) by Chris Liebing & Green Velvet immediately sets things ablaze, after which tunes such as the doomy, throbbing Atraxia and Adam Beyer's Antistius continue the violent but forward-thinking techno sound that marks this CD.

Across 12 tracks, we get to hear both minimal-styled CLR techno as layered tunes, yet all of there breathe a sinister, ice cold CLR vibe. Among the many highlight's are Pfirter's Miestudio (a merciless techno beast remarked by its basic nature, yet packing an extremely violent punch in the face), the thunderous Armstrong by Speedy J with its superb fx and Brian Sanhaji's Higgs, but truth is that this compilation contains nothing but full-on techno CLR-style, and that's a recommendation to tech heads the world over.

This compilation perfectly reflects the sound of the CLR label. It's deep, it's dark, it's intelligent and at some point apocalyptic and overall speaking, it's extremely well produced. 10 Years CLR has become a massive overview of the label's past 10 years, and exposes the brilliance the label has come to known for. Ace material, definitely one to consider if you're a big fan of big room techno violence.
